• We will start our Off-Road Adventure from the busy port of Adamas, heading south. Leaving the beautiful gulf, the second largest in the Mediterranean Sea, we will turn before Milos Airport on a dirt route of about 3 km to approach the Volcano Crater, inactive for the past 90.000 years. Our route continues to the stunning Aggeria Mine, one of the largest and deepest mines of Bentonite in Europe.
• The tour will continue Papafragas, home to the ancient Bronze Age settlement, and the commercial town of Phylakopi, often referred to as “The Ancient City of Obsidian.” The common belief is that a giant tidal wave was behind the significant damage caused at Phylokopi. As a result, the area is home to huge caves and cliffs that drop off into the crystal-clear sea below, creating a volcanic swimming pool. It is an outstanding location for photographs.
• We will also visit the bay of Sarakiniko, where the initial feeling upon arrival is that of “landing on the moon.” The dramatic lunar-like landscape results from pumice stone or compact volcanic ash. The white carving patterns and hollows are everevolving due to the harsh north westerly winds and occasional storms from the north that help to shape the rocks in a truly magnificent way artistically. The group will have the opportunity to wander around, explore the exciting landscape at Sarakiniko and take photographs that will forever be imprinted in their minds.
